Cyclone Idai: Education at risk for more than 305,000 children in Mozambique

More than 305,000 children in Mozambique have had their education interrupted because of damage caused by Cyclone Idai, UNICEF said today. Over 3,400 classrooms were damaged or destroyed in cyclone-affected regions, including 2,713 in the Sofala area alone. In some cases, schools require extensive rehabilitation after being used as emergency shelters for children and families displaced by the storm. My mother passed away when I was 12 so my goal at the moment is to continue her legacy and follow in her footsteps by pursuing law. I also want to do law because it’s one of the money ways I feel I can make a difference to people that need my help. The world is messed up as it is, I just want to be apart of the small percentage of people trying to fix it. I hate liars, rapists, racists, cheaters, fa

Young Africans today are taking actions that not only have an immediate impact, but will also determine the future of the continent for decades to come. Never has there been such weighty responsibility on the shoulders of young people. Never has there been the influence in the hands of young people like the influence they carry now. But for Africa to reap the dividends she has longed for, it is up to our generation to make sure that influence is channelled correctly and directed towards relevant issues that affect not only ourselves, but generations after us. This can only be achieved if we come together as young people and begin to address the challenges before us as a continent. The role of African youth is drastically changing, but so are some of the challenges we face, such as employability and entrepreneurship opportu
